LUXE: Elevating the Sub-Brand

About the project
01. The Context
The Challenge LUXE is the most premium tier of the M&I event portfolio, designed exclusively for elite industry decision-makers. The challenge was to create a visual identity that signalled prestige and exclusivity without fracturing the core M&I brand ecosystem. I was tasked with defining a "Quiet Luxury" aesthetic that felt sophisticated enough to resonate with high-end partners while remaining recognisably part of the M&I family.
The Strategy To achieve this, I led the transition from the vibrant, high-energy character of the parent brand toward a more disciplined, editorial approach. By focusing on architectural typography and a warmer, refined palette, we created a visual language that spoke to a discerning audience through restraint rather than noise.
02. The Execution
Defining the Premium Standard The evolution of LUXE required pushing the existing design system to its limits. I focused on three key pillars to shift the brand’s positioning:
Typographic Discipline: I transitioned the use of M&I’s brand typography (Circular) away from its bold, functional roots toward lighter weights and generous tracking, creating a sense of "air" and elegance.
A Refined Palette: I introduced a warmer, tonally rich colour system that referenced high-end lifestyle brands, moving away from the "Challenger" vibrancy of the 2024 system.
Curated Art Direction: I oversaw the curation of a tailored imagery library, prioritising tactile textures and minimalist compositions that reinforced the sense of an elite, curated experience.
03. The Result
The Outcome The identity was a categorical success, with internal stakeholders and delegates describing the branding as a significant step above the standard event experience. By maintaining the "red thread" of the M&I brand while introducing a more sophisticated layer of craft, I proved that a robust design system could scale upward into the luxury market without losing its core identity.
